For many, today marks the end of another fantastic summer. I hope you were able to enjoy some special vacation time with your family and build memories. My summer began early this year with our family exploration of the California coast. I am fortunate enough to have great kids who are packed and ready to travel when their regular school year ends, “pay for it and they will come” …or better yet, “plan for it and everyone is happy.”

The real trick to any vacation is planning, planning and more planning. As soon as school begins I have my calendar ready and I start my planning. It drives my family crazy, while they are thinking of all the books and assignments and tests, I am planning our next adventure. It’s never too early to start, seize your calendar! From the early days of kindergarten to their recent college school calendar, I look for any breaks in the year to make our family vacation plans. Whether it’s a short cruise in September, a holiday break in December, a Spring break cruise, or next summer’s adventure, I work with everyone’s schedule to plan our family vacations.

I know it seems too early to start your plans and you are probably overwhelmed with getting your students set for the new school year, but seize your calendar. You’ll love having something to look forward to besides school supplies, homework and tests. First break is fast approaching, make it a December to remember or start planning for a cruise next summer and see how fast your school year will fly by! Let your count down begin!
