The rewards of group travel...
Published Sunday, September 8th 2013When was the last time you traveled…with 20 of your closest friends, parents, grandparents, cousins or any other relative? For me personally the answer is easy…last weekend.
I always make it a habit of taking at least one trip a year with the extended group. It always turned out to be one of the most rewarding vacations. Who doesn’t love the notion of being together, experiencing new places for the first time? Multi-generational travel is like traveling with a detailed storybook of the past. Especially when your kids are present, engaging the grandparents, aunts, uncles, asking them to reminisce, talk about when they were younger, always provides lots of laughs. This walk down memory lane undoubtedly will teach you something new about your own parents.
Traveling with friends can create some of your most memorable experiences, from our weekend girls getaway, to summer vacations, there are more laughs, and stories then I can share. One of the success factors to traveling with an entourage is knowing how to manage logistics, so there's no stress due to lack of planning, typically my role. Making the arrangements, getting everyone to commit, always a challenge but so rewarding in the end. One sign of a successful vacation is when we all come back friends and we starting planning our next adventure.
Not everyone is meant for group travel. Sharing living space for days can cause some folks to go nuts. However, the laughs and memories always keep us coming back again and again. Traveling with an entourage gives you a chance to share yourself and make those connections that last a lifetime. So starting planning your next vacation...with 20 of your closest friends, I already made my plans!
