What's your New Year's Tradition?
Published Sunday, December 29th 2013 - Updated Sunday, December 29th 2013A New Year’s tradition I never miss…As New Year’s Eve approaches I started to think about all the silly traditions my family has and how each one dictates how our year will play out. From wearing something yellow, to lentil bean pouches, to banging pots and pans at midnight, and even twelve grapes in hand, we do at least one for luck. One of my favorites is the suitcase stroll. At midnight we grab a suitcase and each person takes a turn walking to the corner with suitcase in hand, each hoping for lots of travel in the New Year. I am not even sure when this tradition started but since I began taking the stroll, my travel life has exploded. Some of us take the stroll with our spouse, some take the stroll with their kids, and even the coeds hoping for Spring Break take the stroll. It’s a great tradition and fun to watch each person’s face as they hope for a great travel year. For the past 20+ years we have hosted our New Year’s Eve celebration, family and friends join us as we ring in the New Year. This year will be no different…we will all take the suitcase stroll and look forward to good health and travel in 2014!
